Why name a technology company after endangered Manta Rays?

tech + Manta = techManta. tech for a keyword auto-completed SEO advantage and Manta because I am in love with Manta Rays. Mantas are truly mesmerizing. Once you see a Pelagic Giant Manta Ray or the smaller Alfredis, everything about them will capture your imagination. As with all species with a long gestation period, they are endangered and need to be protected.

Manta rays have the largest brain-to-body weight ratio of any living fish, making them quite smart compared to the other species around them. They are incredibly gentle for their size and it is quite intimidating yet exhilarating when one of these 16+ foot wingspan, intelligent & curious giant ray swims right up to you to play with you.
Out Of Sight, Not Out of Mind
Demand for the gills of Manta and other Mobula rays has risen dramatically in Asian markets. There is an increasing demand for manta ray products; estimated harvest of giant manta rays, particularly in many portions of the Indo-Pacific frequently exceeds numbers of identified individuals in those areas and are accompanied by observed declines in sightings and landings of the species of up to 95 percent. Other threats include marine debris/ pollution, vessel strike, entanglement, and recreational fishing interactions. Out of sight for these species has meant, out of mind for their safeguard and conservation. Their destruction has continued unabated.
